New AdWords URL Display Policy Goes Into Effect

February 24, 2009

in PPC Marketing

Starting today, Google will begin implementing a new URL display policy for those using AdWords. The change will not affect casual users, but power-users could be required to make some changes to their ad campaigns. Google is now requiring that any ad groups that contain multiple display URLs all have the same top-level domain.

This means that having display URLs like this will NOT be allowed:

You can however use the following:

If you are currently using multiple display URLs that are not allowed under the new policy, you will need to either change your URLs or create separate ad groups.
