While most webmasters are familiar with Google’s Webmaster Tools, many don’t know about the Webmaster Center Tools that are offered by Live Search. MSN originally launched the Live Search Webmaster Center over a year ago and has been gradually adding features since. This past week, several new features were added to the tool that you might find useful.
The major addition in this update was the ability for webmasters to see any malware that Live Search has found to be associated with their site. This is very useful information because it is possible to get associated with malware, even if your site is clean itself. This tool can help webmasters identify any sites that they are linking to that have been identified for malware. These outbound links can be negative for your site if Google makes the connection.
This new capability can be found in the Crawl Issues tool in Webmaster Center. With the latest update, you will now be able to:
- Find out if any malware has been detected on any of your webpages
- Download offine-accessible reports detailing which webpages on your website are affected by malware
- Find out whether any malware has been detected on any of your outbound links
- Download offline-accessible reports detailing which pages on your site contain links to other sites associated with malware
In addition to helping you identify these issues, you will also have access to advice and information that can help you fix any malware related issues that are found. If you do have a malware problem on your site, you can even request a re-scan once you fix the problem and your site will be spidered more quickly so that you can be included in the search results once again.
