Net Neutrality has been a hot battle for the past couple years between the major phone and cable companies and small businesses, website owners and the general public. Earlier today, FCC Chairman Julius Genachowski proposed to formalize a rule to take to congress that would eliminate the discrimination of certain types of traffic by these companies. In Lehmans terms, these companies own the pipes carrying the bandwidth for the internet, however they are not currently allowed to control what goes on inside these pipes. They want monopolistic control over the bandwidth which would essentially mean the larger companies that can afford to pay for bandwidth will get it, and those who can’t wil be bogged down. As an owner of various web businesses, i strongly support net neutrality as i’m sure all of you do. To support the fight for net neutrality visit Save the Internet.
