Interactive advertising among least affected forms of marketing in recession

An interactive advertising survey conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers and sponsored by the interactive advertising bureau was just released: 2009 advertising revenue report. We’ve read the report, here are some highlights:

  • United States Internet advertising revenues totaled $10.9 Billion for the first six months of 2009
  • Search revenue accounted for 47%
  • Display and Banner Ads accounted for 22%
  • Revenues peaked in 2008 after a six-year climb
  • Yearly revenues have potential to reach nearly $22 billion
  • The top 10 ad selling companies accounted for 71% of total revenues
  • Retail advertisers account for 20% of internet advertising spend, the largest segment
