As I was doing research for a client whose having some trouble with local listings in Google, I came across a fantastic local search ranking factors guide that was actually inspired by Rand Fishkin’s Search Engine Ranking Factors 2009 that we wrote about a couple months ago. This is by far the best compilation of expert insight into the Google local search algorithm. They list positive and potentially harmful factors to educate marketers on getting their business listed in local search results. If you can be listed in local search results, I strongly recommend referencing this guide as it is the most comprehensive I’ve seen to date. Check out our recent post on how to get listed in Google local search.
