Google recently promoted the new Motorola Droid on their homepage which caused quite the stir. Although i’m an iPhone advocate and a happy AT&T customer, the new Droid looks pretty enticing. Here are some tips for some basic and advanced functionality:
Droid tips
- Touch and drag icons to where you want them on the screen, similar to iPhone, drag to trash can for shortcut
- To remove widgets, drag down to bottom of screen
- Double tap browswer window to zoom
- Press and hold home screen to load a quick launch menu which shows the last six programs you’ve used
- Use turn by turn navigation for audible navigation
- Use for business (corporate) email which iPhone isn’t very compatible with
- Turn it into an alarm clock- Plug into docking station to get large visible clock display
- Turn Droid into MP3 player- set on docking station and hook up to computer with speakers, you’ve got yourself a cool docking station
- Easily set an MP3 as your ringtone- while song is playing, simply choose “menu” and “set as ringtone.”
- Bookmark a page or save a picture- just tap on screen or the picture and use menu on screen to save
