According to research firm AccuStream, gross spending on online video advertising was up 36% in 2008 over the previous year. Total video spending was estimated at $2.12 billion and is expected to grow more than 20% in 2009. Some key details from the AccuStream report include:
- In-banner video impressions grew by 65% and accounted for $1.5 billion of gross spending
- Pre-roll ad inventory increased nearly 13% during the year, reaching 18.75 billion total avails
- Video buys made through rep firms totaled approximately $90 million in 2008
