Spending on Paid Search Increased in Q4

January 12, 2009

in Internet Marketing News

SearchIgnite recently reported that paid search spending was up 12% over the fourth quarter of 2008, compared to the same period in 2007. The biggest gains were in November, when retailers increased spending 43% year-over-year.

It isn’t yet clear where companies will spend their online advertising dollars this year, but it is likely that most will stick to whatever has proven most effective for them in the past. I expect spending on newer and untested forms of online advertising to be more conservative during the first half of 2009.
