Twitter Experimenting With Verified Accounts

in Social Media Marketing

In an effort to to reduce issues with impersonations on Twitter, the company has announced that it will begin Beta testing for a new verified accounts feature. Early testing will begin with public officials, agencies, athletes, and other celebrities who are at a higher risk of impersonation. These will be the only accounts that have the verification option available to them at first, but the feature will hopefully be open to all accounts in the future.

I think that this feature would be a great addition to Twitter and hopefully it will be opened up for all accounts later this year. Those accounts that achieve verified status will be noted with a verified seal, so keep your eyes open for the verified account feature as it goes online this summer.
