Wordpress just released the latest version 3.0 in Beta. 
However it’s not ready for production. Unless you are a code junkie and love finding bugs, i’d suggest holding off until the Beta test concludes and the official launch date arrives. Some new features include a custom menus system and the merge of Wordpress and Wordpress MU (Multiple User) which allows multiple blogs to work from a single installation. They’ve also added a new default theme and made some overall UI improvements.
